Youth Aide Program
The Youth Aid tryout that was going to be held on Saturday March 31st has been canceled due to poor weather conditions and high surf advisory.
The new date for the tryout is Saturday April 21st at 8:30am at Seacliff Beach.
Due to this Change we have new training dates.
If your Junior Guard is between the ages of 15-17 they should consider trying out to become
a Junior Lifeguard Youth Aide. As a Youth Aide you work under the close supervision of the Junior Lifeguard Supervisor.
This Uniformed position will work directly with the Lifeguard Staff in order to develop job skills; quality work habits
and leadership qualities through work experience.
NOTE: Youth Aides must be 15 years of age by the hiring date: May 15, 2012.
Youth Aide/JG Tryouts:

Tryout is held on the downcoast side of the pier. Date is subject to change due to weather.

All Youth Aide's must be available for ALL training dates!!

May 19th -- 8:00 am-5:00 pm -- First Aid #1
May 20th -- 8:00 am-5:00 pm -- First Aid #2
May 26th -- 8:00 am-5:00 pm -- Hire Session/ROP/Instructor Skills
The Tryout:
The tryout will consist of a 500 yard open ocean swim with a maximum time limit of 15 minutes. Candidates who complete the swim in the allotted time with qualify for the Run-Swim-Run portion of the tryout which will consist of a 100yard run- 200 yard swim-100 yard run.
The top candidates in the Run-Swim-Run will move forward to a competitive oral interview. The interview will be a mix of personal experience and qualification questions as well as relevant scenarios. Candidates interviewing will be ranked and Youth Aide positions offered based on operational need. Work locations are based on operational need.
(A resume and Professional business attire are highly recommended for the interview process.)
What To Bring to the Tryout:
Parent or Legal Guardian
Wetsuit
Swim cap and goggles if preferred
Clothes/ towel to keep warm
School Identification, California Identification Card, or California Drivers License
Fins will not be allowed
